Women Shaping the Future of Durasein—Audra Mika

How did your career path lead you to Durasein?

Change. I wanted to join an organization where I could thrive, be creative, challenged, grow personally, and collaborate with a dynamic team. Durasein checked every one of those boxes.
What do you find most rewarding about helping designers bring their ideas to life?
AUDRA MIKA
I love supporting our A&D community by helping turn their design visions into thoughtful, inspiring spaces. Collaborating on their ideas, providing suggestions, solutions and seeing them come to life is incredibly rewarding. It’s humbling to be able to say, “we were part of that.”
How do materials influence the way people experience a space?
AUDRA MIKA
Every material in a building has a purpose, and surfaces play a powerful role in shaping mood, inclusivity, health, and the overall experience of a space. With its vibrant colors, dynamic movement, thermoformability, and ability to create textured finishes, Durasein surfaces are as impactful and sustainable as they are beautiful.
What makes a product easier for designers and fabricators to work with?
AUDRA MIKA
A great product is just the start. The real difference is collaboration and communication. From pre-planning to fabrication, installation, and even aftermarket support. When our clients know we’ve got their back, it eases the pressure off them. That’s what makes Durasein special: a dedicated team working seamlessly from start to finish and beyond.
What design trends are you currently excited about?

Biophilia Design. The biophilic design movement isn’t just a trend, it’s a timeless approach that brings warmth and character to any style or design segment. Biophilia truly transforms spaces, blending nature and creativity in a way that’s both stunning and enduring.
What has been one of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned in your career so far?

Make every moment count……wins, losses, and even the quiet moments. They keep you learning, exploring, humble, grateful, and real.
What motivates you to keep learning and growing in your field?
AUDRA MIKA
People, time, change, and technology. These forces are shaping our world like never before. Technology accelerates how quickly we can create and bring visions to life, while countless platforms help us connect and stay front and center with our clients. The pace of change in recent years has been remarkable. I’m inspired by the people around me. Our world is full of diverse thinkers, creators, and visionaries. It’s an incredible time to learn, grow, and evolve alongside this ever-changing industry.
