Swatchbox, the global sample platform for architects and designers, has announced the building materials that will receive the 2024 Curator’s Choice distinction at the Milan Design Week Sample Gallery in the Brera Design District.

The Curator’s Choice distinction was selected by a team of designers led by Marco Castiglioni, Senior Project Architect at Il Prisma in Milan, and includes products from the following brands: 2tec2, Archi.tile, COAT Paints, Elkuch Group, Inc., Envirobuild, Fiberon, Hanex Solid Surfaces, Koskisen, Lapitec, Novamix, Organoid, PaperStone, Shaw Contract, Sian Zeng, Trex, Wienerberger, Laminam, JAB Anstoetz, Interface, Orac Décor, Durasein, Durat, Graphenstone, Industville, Parkside, PPG Architectural Coatings, RAK Ceramics, and Roca.

The Gallery is presented together with the ‘True Cost’ exhibition from Swatchbox, which features a powerful portrayal of the significant impact of construction waste on the environment. The exhibition is located at Via Fiori Chiari, 12 at the center of the famous Brera Design District in Milan.

As visitors enter the ‘True Cost’ exhibition, they encounter an evocative material installation built entirely of construction waste from local Milan firms. The installation is designed to contrast with the accompanying Swatchbox 2024 Milan Sample Gallery, which features a beautiful display of Curator’s Choice material samples available to architects and designers via sustainable methods.

“This exhibit is a testament to the power of design to spark meaningful conversations and drive positive change,” remarked Castiglioni. “It’s a reminder that we must rethink our approach to the entire construction process and prioritize sustainability in every aspect of our work.”

The Swatchbox Milan Sample Gallery and ‘True Cost’ Exhibition will be open to the public from 16 April – 20 April 2024 during Milan Design Week. Press and media may reserve private tours of the exhibition upon request.

The next Swatchbox exhibition will take place in London on 23-25 May as part of Clerkenwell Design Week.
